Technical expertise, wide-ranging experience and extensive skills are pooled with the common goal of achieving production of sustainable fish all year round.
Who exactly is KM Seafood?
KM Seafood was founded in 2015 as a joint venture between Kirschauer Aquakulturen and Micarna. KM Seafood thus combines its expertise and many years of experience in the field of aquaculture plant construction and operation with Micarna's processing and marketing expertise. Since 2019, the company has been under the sole management of the Swiss company and is managed by Rüdiger Buddruss.
KM Seafood is a trailblazing project that aims to make reproduction of fish in aquaculture sustainable. In the course of the past few years, the people at KM Seafood have both acquired the technical expertise and built the production systems relevant to this sustainable seafood production. Thanks to the closed recirculation systems, traceability of fish and control are ensured throughout the entire value chain.
Being able to rely on existing systems, and above all on specialist knowledge, played an important role when selecting the location for this joint venture. When Kirschauer Aquakulturen and Micarna joined forces for this project in 2015, it meant the coming together of two companies that rank among the best in their own particular sectors. Kirschauer Aquakulturen not only design their sophisticated recirculation systems themselves but they also operate them successfully in their hatcheries.
Micarna brings to the table its crucial expertise in processing an enormous variety of seafood specialities. Thanks to the size of the company and its long-term strategy regarding sustainable produced fish, the Swiss company ensures, on the one hand, the technical expertise required for processing and, on the other hand, a certain reliability in terms of reproduction and market. Since 2019, the company has been under the sole management of the Swiss company and is managed by Rüdiger Buddruss.
